Our Favorite Summer Traditions in Ventura County

by Cares Collective

Summer in Ventura County is something special. Between the coastal breeze, the mountain backdrops, and the communities that know how to celebrate, there is no shortage of reasons to get outside and enjoy the season. Our team at the Cares Collective has been rooted in this area for years, and every summer we find ourselves circling the same events on the calendar.  Here are ten of our favorites this summer.

☀️Boots & Brews Country Music Festival | June 13 | Ventura

A full day of country music and craft beer set against the backdrop of one of California's most beloved coastal cities. Boots & Brews draws a great crowd and always delivers the kind of easygoing, good-time energy that kicks off summer just right.

☀️Saturdays in the Park Concerts | Saturdays all summer | Westlake Village

There is something about an outdoor concert on a Saturday evening that just works. This beloved series in Westlake Village is one of those low-key traditions that locals swear by. Bring a blanket, grab some food, and let the evening unfold.

☀️The Ojai Lavender Festival | June 20 | Ojai

Ojai is already one of the most charming towns in the county, and the Lavender Festival takes it up a notch. Think artisan vendors, aromatherapy, farm-fresh products, and the most photogenic backdrop you will find in June. A wonderful day trip.

☀️Moorpark Concerts in the Park | Thursdays all summer | Moorpark

We may be a little biased since Moorpark is home turf, but this concert series is genuinely one of our summer highlights. Thursday evenings at the park, community all around, live music in the air. It is exactly what summer evenings should feel like.

☀️Conejo Valley Days | June 24–28 | Thousand Oaks

One of the oldest and most beloved community festivals in the region, Conejo Valley Days is a full five-day celebration with a carnival, live entertainment, food, and the famous rodeo. If you have never been, this is the year to go.

☀️Ventura County Greek Festival | June 26–28 | Camarillo

Ouzo, baklava, live Greek music, and dancing in the streets — the Greek Festival is a full sensory experience and one of the most festive weekends of the summer. Camarillo hosts it beautifully every year, and the food alone is worth the trip.

☀️Kingsmen Shakespeare Festival | June 19 – July 26 | Thousand Oaks

Outdoor Shakespeare under the summer sky at California Lutheran University. This festival has been bringing professional productions to Thousand Oaks for decades, and the experience of watching a live performance on a warm summer evening never gets old. Bring a picnic.

☀️Camarillo Fiesta | July 15–19 | Camarillo

A five-day celebration of community, culture, live music, carnival rides, and local vendors. The Camarillo Fiesta has been a county staple for years, and its mid-July timing makes it the perfect way to mark the heart of summer.

☀️Wings Over Camarillo Air Show | August 15–16 | Camarillo

One of the premier air shows in Southern California. Vintage warbirds, aerobatic displays, military demonstrations, and a crowd that genuinely loves every second of it. A bucket-list summer day for aviation fans and families alike.

☀️Simi's Endless Summer Beer Fest | August 29 | Simi Valley

The perfect way to close out the summer season. Local and regional craft breweries come together for a laid-back afternoon celebration in Simi Valley. A great final send-off before September arrives.

Whether you are new to the area or have called Ventura County home for decades, we hope this list gives you a few reasons to get out and enjoy the season. These events are part of what makes this community so special and why our team is proud to call it home.

From all of us at the Cares Collective, have a wonderful summer.
